It is also fairly easy and enjoyable to construct, but I would recommend having a second pair of hands available to help fit the main work surface (part L) onto the legs as this piece is extremely heavy and difficult to adjust into position. I'm really not sure why this desk is getting such negative reviews as I've found the quality and sturdiness to be exceptional as well as looking absolutely gorgeous. I would recommend you stay away from such a waste of money, especially at this price point there are much better choices. In closure this "desk" feels extremely cheap and poorly thought out. They couldn't even place the brand sticker on the desk straight, but not a huge problem as it fell down after a couple of weeks. The desk has plenty of sharp angles that get damaged only by looking at them. In comparison, I use my laptop on a cheap ikea coffee table and there's no scratches there. The desk is so fragile that is full of scratches from placing my macbook pro on it. I wanted to install a monitor arm, but the MDF panels are so cheap I won't take the risk. It makes typing a nightmare as it jumps up and down every time I touch a key. All it has on it is a computer keyboard as I didn't trust it with my midi controller and it struggles holding that too. The tray mechanism feels extremely fragile and the trail itself is bent after a few weeks of use. What were they thinking when designing it? The desk upper level is too small to hold a pair of HS8s and even too small for my computer monitor stand. Upon inspection 2 different parts arrived damaged/faulty and it took ages to receive the spare parts from Thomann. I now am forced to think the reviews were fabricated.Īssembly took ages and was very tedious. I've bought this desk because of it's reviews and honestly I thought it looked good. I don't even know how they sell this "product" through their store. I always been very happy with everything I've purchased from Thomann, up to now.

While it may not always feel this way, nothing a computer does is random, so creating a truly random number generator is a challenging problem to tackle. To see this in action, try running the following simple program without seeding the math/rand package. This also means that if another package were to always seed the math/rand package with another number (like 42), you would also get similarly predictable results every time you restart your applicatoin. If you ever opt to not create a rand.Rand object in your code and instead use the methods provided by the math/rand package, beware that the default seed value is 1, so if you forget to seed it you will find that your “random” package is really generating the same sequence of numbers every time you run your application. A source is basically just an object that helps us get randomly distributed numbers using a seed that we provide. We initialize this variable using the rand.New() function, which requires a rand.Source as an argument. By using a rand.Rand instance we are able to prevent this from happening to our random number generator. This is important, because another piece of code we import might also seed the math/rand package and cause all of our “random” functions to not really be that random.įor example, if we seed with rand.Seed(time.Now().UnixNano()) and then another initializer calls rand.Seed(1) our seed will get overridden, and that definitely isn’t what we want. This type has almost all of the functions available in the math/rand package, but we are able to isolate it so that no other code can affect our seed. The first few lines should look familiar to anyone who has written some Go code before - we start by declaring our package, and then follow it with a few imports stating the packages we will be using in our code.Īfter that we declare a global variable named seededRand with the type *rand.Rand. Package rand import ( "math/rand" "time" ) var seededRand * rand. In it we are going to start by writing an init() function that handles seeding the math/rand package. Open rand/strings.go if you haven’t already. As of now that is the entirety of our package, but you might find yourself updating this package over time so it is good to start with that in mind. In the rand/strings.go file we are going to store all of our functions related to random strings. For now we will only have functions related to strings, but you are welcome to add to the package over time as your project needs evolve. The rand directory is going to store all of our code that is part of the rand package we are creating. Once you do that, create a file named strings.go in the newly created directory. This is going to change based on your local environment, but I suggest creating a folder named rand inside of whatever directory you are working in. The first thing we are going to is create a directory to store our new package. Side Note: I have written about generating random string in the past as part of a list of tips for using strings in Go, but I felt that the topic deserves its own post as it is a pretty common request on its own. If you do happen to find yourself still using the math/rand package in other parts of your application, it might be worth considering either moving some of that code into a function in your new rand package so that it is easier to reuse and test in isolation. It might seem odd to wrap another package with the same package name, but in my experience (and in others’ experience) this pattern works well when you want to wrap a package based on the context of what you are building, or if you want to isolate some details that just aren’t relevant to the rest of your application. That way the rest of our code doesn’t need to concern itself with the implementation details of generating random strings, but can instead simply call functions like rand.String(10) to get a random string with 10 characters in it. What this means is we are going to create a custom package named rand that will utilize the functionality provided by the math/rand package in order to create our own functions, and mask most of the implementation details.

If you want only the best performance and budget is not an issue then Traxxas 5407 3.3 TRX Engine would be the best choice. To fulfill the potential performance of the Traxxas Revo monster truck, you will need an engine that can carry the load.Īlthough other engines might fail, you can install nitro engines from this list without any second thoughts. Yes, they have a shelf-life of 6 months if the temperature is around 30 degrees. The RC car that holds the fastest records uses brushless motors. You will need batteries for servos and receiver. Do not use nitro fuel if it seems watery or condensed. Yes, after a certain time they do go bad. The Traxxas X0-1 is the fastest car right now. They can last from 6 months to a year if they are preserved in the proper environment. That is why it is up to you to find the balance. So, you will have to take a hard look at the engine and see how much speed it can offer.Īlthough, going for more speed almost always sacrifices the torque. And, there is only a handful of RC cars and truck owners who are not into racing. Speed: Speed is an important factor if you intend to race. Having high torque will allow you to not only quick acceleration but also be comfortable running on rough terrain. The requirement goes up higher when you consider that this truck is designed for running off-road. Torque: As the Traxxas Revo has a weight of more than 10 lbs, you will need more power to run it. On the other hand, when running it on the plain road you can focus more on speed. Because higher torque will help to climb different slopes. Terrain: Before you choose an engine for Traxxas Revo, do a full assessment of the terrain you will mostly run.įor example, in case you wish to run the truck off-road then you will need better torque. So, do your research first if you wish to go for a big engine. The effect will be mostly negative if you don’t know how to tune your truck to take the advantage of the bigger engine. The build materials also play an important role when comes to lasting performance.Įngine Size: Traxxas Revo truck has enough space to accommodate bigger sizes. When choosing an engine for Revo, make sure it is made of a heat-conductive material like aluminum. Material: Engine material is the most important part of choosing a nitro, be it for an RC truck or a car. Power generation is a bit low considering it is 2.7cc.Traxxas 5407 3.3 TRX Engine – Best Overall Top 5 Nitro Engine for Revos Product Review: 1. That is why it is so important to balance out the fuel mixture by tuning the engine. On the other hand, you will get sluggish performance if you run the engine too rich. It is good to note that running an engine too lean will wear out the engine. Continue the process until you get the desired result. If acceleration seems sluggish or there is a lot of smoke then lean it by 1/16 of a turn. Let it sit idle for like 10 seconds and then do a hard acceleration. To tune low speed, get the engine running by doing a few high-speed passes. Continue the process until there is no improvement in performance. If so, then lean it by turning the needle 1/16 of a turn. Then run the RC car at full throttle and observe if the smoke is bluish. When tuning highspeed, at first make the fuel-rich to the full extent. To make the fuel mixture lean you will have to turn the needle clockwise. When tuning the engine you will have to either lean or richen their fuel flow. Doing so would ensure that the engine performs at the optimal level. In short, tuning an engine involves adjusting the carburetor to mix fuel and air in the right ratio. 18 RC Car Nitro Engine SH – Great Performance. In the last 16 months, “dumpster fire” has become inextricably associated with the upcoming election, quickly cycling from colorful descriptor to witless meme to lazy cliché. Prior to the 2016 presidential campaign, the phrase “dumpster fire” most often described a metal bin full of flaming trash. But if you read a description of the degree to which things have been bad in the world of politics lately, you’re likely to see two words: dumpster fire. Things are bad everywhere, always, and forever. Ask fans of the Minnesota Twins, who suck and will suck for the rest of most humans’ natural lives. Dozens of states have passed anti-SLAPP laws protecting people and state courts from this abusive tactic. The aim of these cases is to tie up their targets in court until they sign away their First Amendment rights. They're baseless legal actions filed by powerful individuals and businesses, targeting the free speech of protestors, journalists, and others who speak out on public matters. SLAPP lawsuits aren’t regular court cases. “By introducing the SLAPP Protection Act, Congressman Raskin is leading the way in ensuring that people can speak up about problems and injustices important to their communities and the American people. Federal anti-SLAPP legislation will lower the rising price tag on free speech-and protect the voices of those who dedicate their lives to defending our planet and our communities,” said Deepa Padmanabha, Deputy General Counsel for Greenpeace USA. Smaller groups and individuals can be sued into silence by the mere filing of a SLAPP, which is precisely the intent behind this tactic. For the past six years, Greenpeace USA has been fighting SLAPPs that collectively seek more than $400 million in damages. “SLAPPs undermine the very values that are fundamental to our democracy: free speech and healthy debate. This legislation will stop wealthy forces from weaponizing the law to protect selfish interests.” “The rights to free speech, peaceful assembly, and a free press are fundamental to what it means to be an American, but this gap in federal law has allowed corporations and bad actors to chill speech and dissent. “For decades, the fossil fuel industry has abused our legal system by deploying costly, protracted and meritless lawsuits to target activists, non-profits and other organizations exercising their First Amendment rights,” said Chairman Raskin. The legislation follows a Subcommittee hearing yesterday that highlighted the fossil fuel industry’s use of SLAPPs to silence environmental activists and non-profits who speak out against proposed fossil fuel pipelines and other projects that contribute to climate change. Jamie Raskin, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Civil Rights and Civil Liberties, introduced the Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation (SLAPP) Protection Act to establish a procedure to dismiss and deter strategic lawsuits against public participation (SLAPPs) and punish entities that attempt to use this litigation to stifle First Amendment protected speech. Requests were so numerous that the studio had to set up an entire five-person unit devoted to insignia, under the lead of artist Hank Porter, to even come close to meeting demand. But space was not all that Disney would provide the troops. Army troops requisitioned half of Walt Disney’s Burbank, California, studio for their use.
