And, much like an uncontrolled blaze, it’s not slowing down. In the last 16 months, “dumpster fire” has become inextricably associated with the upcoming election, quickly cycling from colorful descriptor to witless meme to lazy cliché. Prior to the 2016 presidential campaign, the phrase “dumpster fire” most often described a metal bin full of flaming trash. But if you read a description of the degree to which things have been bad in the world of politics lately, you’re likely to see two words: dumpster fire. Things are bad everywhere, always, and forever. Ask fans of the Minnesota Twins, who suck and will suck for the rest of most humans’ natural lives. Ask fans of the Chicago White Sox, who had to witness their crosstown rivals win the World Series in an obnoxiously heartwarming manner. Ask comedy fans, who lost Gene Wilder and Gary Shandling. ![]() Ask sports fans, who lost Muhammad Ali and Pat Summitt. Ask fans of fashion, who lost Bill Cunningham. Ask conservatives, who lost both Antonin Scalia and Phyllis Schlafly. Ask fans of music, who lost Prince and David Bowie. Locks may be available through your contracted service provider. Place locks on commercial dumpsters or keep in secured area.If possible, keep them in a secured area. Locate dumpsters, recycle bins and yard waste containers at least five feet away from walls and roof eave lines.Clean up wastepaper, grasses, weeds, litter, or anything that can burn from around buildings.Secure home, garage areas and businesses by locking doors and windows.In light of these recent fires, here are a few simple steps you can take to reduce the chance of an arson fire at your home or business: The Seattle Fire Department’s fire investigators continue to work closely with the Seattle Police Department’s Arson and Bomb Squad to share information regarding the ongoing investigations. Then on July 20, firefighters responded to a 2-alarm fire in a vacant building at the 1000 block of S. On July 13, Seattle Fire responded to a 2-alarm fire in a vacant building at the 1000 block of 9 th Ave. – Debris fire set inside stairwell of building. – Multiple Garbage cans and dumpsters burned – Debris fires inside derelict apartment building – Debris fire set in underground parking garage – Second set fire in Stairwell of building – Debris fire set inside stairwell of building The fires occurred between July 16 and 17. Most of the fires have occurred in dumpster receptacles, garbage bins, stairwells of occupied buildings and vacant buildings. The Seattle Fire Department and Police Department have recently seen an uptick in intentionally set fires in the Chinatown-International District and First Hill neighborhoods. ![]()
